Job Title: STEM Coordinator
Since 1987, Drew Child Development Corporation (Drew CDC), a private, nonprofit organization located in South Central Los Angeles, has been dedicated to the education and well-being of at-risk children in the metropolitan Los Angeles, area.
Through our Child Welfare, Early Child Education and Mental Health programs, our mission is to prepare the children of Watts-Willowbrook, Compton and South Los Angeles to succeed and thereby strengthen our community’s future.
Reporting to the Director of Education and liaison with the Site Supervisors, the STEM Coordinator will ensure that curriculum plans are consistent with conceptual science based approach; attend all meetings; place orders specific to STEM; work in all Preschool classrooms to establish relationships with children, staff, and families; work closely with Teachers to document the children’s projects and review the data in order to suggest possibilities of direction that Teachers and children could venture together; check-in with Teachers about their weekly lesson plans and negotiate the time, location and materials necessary to support the flow of work and to keep focus on the central concept; provide feedback to the Director on annual evaluations as it pertains to curriculum and the implementation of a stimulating learning environment for children consistent with the philosophy of Drew CDC.
The ideal candidate shall have (1) a Bachelor degree in Science/Child Development with emphasis in Science; (2) experience or Knowledge of Constructivism, Project Approach, Reggio Emilia Approach, and Montessori Approach; (3) three years of teaching experience in a full day program for Preschool children and; (4) experience supervising adults; (5) bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
• This position is a 32-40 hours per week; full time
• Positon Pay Rate: $35,000-$40,000 year plus benefits
