Derrell Tidwell, LCSW, ACSW, BCD, with over 30+ years of senior leadership experience, joined Drew CDC in July 2015 as Senior Director of the Mental Health Services & Child Welfare Division. This division includes a full-service outpatient-based mental health service program, a Wrap-around program, a Family Preservation program, and several collaborative service partnerships with other agencies.
Prior to joining Drew CDC, Derrell served as Executive Director of St. Francis Medical Center – Children’s Counseling Center for seventeen years, where under his leadership this program evolved from a small charitable program to a well-recognized program in southeast Los Angeles County delivering a full-array of quality mental health services. Before joining St. Francis Medical Center, Derrell served as Senior Program Director for Hollygrove Residential Services, where he developed their acclaimed Assessment Center and directed their residential programs. Derrell also worked for St. John’s Medical Center where he functioned as Director of their Outreach Project for the Homeless Mentally Ill before taking a career diversion into professional fundraising serving as the medical center’s Director of Private Foundation Relations. He also maintained a successful private practice in Beverly Hills for over 25 years, before closing his office in 2014.
Derrell holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, both from UCLA. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of California and Texas, holds national accreditation as a Clinical Social Worker from the National Association of Social Workers, and is a Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work from the National Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work.
