A Message from Mike Jackson, Ph.D., President and CEO of Drew Child Development Corporation
Our 4th Annual “It Takes a Village” Community Awards program was a huge success. We would like to thank all who supported our efforts; our honorees, honorary committee, sponsors, partners and each individual donor who attended the event. We are incredibly grateful for your continued support. We hope all who attended enjoyed our reception and silent auction that included thirteen fantastic paintings created by some of the highly talented children that attend our child development centers.
Following the reception, our Award Ceremony took place in which we recognized the efforts of seven individuals who have proven themselves to be pillars in our community, and true advocates for the children of South Los Angeles. Hearing their inspirational words and deep commitment to Los Angeles’ youth was certainly a highlight of the evening. This year’s program also included a special presentation from the children of Drew CDC and our Youngest Toastmaster, 9-year-old Jonathan Smith. After the program, the USC Trojan band gave a wonderful surprise performance to our guests. Throughout the night, we saw first-hand the dedication and support for our most valuable resource, our children. Be sure to keep following Drew CDC so as not to miss any exciting developments at the organization, and join us next year for our 5th Annual “It Take a Village” Event.
Lastly, as we reflect on the extraordinary achievements of our honorees and celebrate our community, we must remember that there is more work to be done to ensure that our youth have every opportunity to lead successful lives. Our village is only as strong as each of its members, and I hope you will continue to contribute to our ongoing effort to strengthen our community and help our children and families thrive.
My sincere appreciation,
Be sure to see the 2016 It Takes A Village Program.
